PUSH

no one around
before the paper deity
dead flowers
giving me the push
"quick, get up," I hear

I obviously don't have the cultural background to appreciate this completely, but it does speak to me.

The last line is from the Holy Bible: "Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists."
(Acts 12:7) Many of my poems have such Biblical echoes or references along with the other religious or cultural contexts. You can easily sense the irony and the hidden lack of belief!
